Trauma Therapy

Long after the physical wounds have healed, trauma often lingers. Many tell us things like "it's in the past" and "get over it". Others apologize and say that they are "sorry" but that does little to ease our pain. Unlike a physical wound, these injuries run deep and are often only visible in brief glimpses in our behavior. ‚ÄčIf we or someone we love is suffering from trauma, we may not realize how serious the situation is or how to handle it. Our staff is well trained in trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy, psychotherapy and a host of other treatment modalities to help get to the root of the issue and  resolve that trauma once and for all. In trauma therapy you will learn the skills needed to overcome being overwhelmed. You will begin to understand why you feel the way you do and what you can do to make things better for yourself and those that you love. We will help arm you with the coping skills that you will need to confront those painful memories that haunt you. We will educate you on what Post-Traumatic Gains are and how understanding past trauma can lead to growth. After your initial evaluation, one of our therapists will work with you to build a treatment plan that focuses on the things that are holding you back and help you begin to resolve your experience. It doesn't go away, but you can learn to control it. In the words of poet Robert Frost, "The best way out is through".
